The Search Central Live events in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei were nothing short of amazing, in large
thanks to the over 600 people who attended the events! We were thrilled to see the level of
enthusiasm and engagement from attendees even if, on the day prior to the Taipei event, we
collectively had to deal with
typhoon Kong Rey,
the first supertyphoon in Taiwan’s history to make landfall after mid-October. Here’s a deeper
dive into what made these events so special and what’s next.
How Search REALLY works
Our new “How Search Works” sessions were well received in both locations! Based on feedback from
previous events in other locations, these sessions were designed to give more details than the
sessions we ran last year. We peeled back the layers of search engine mechanics, explaining the
fundamental concepts with a longer version of our
How Search Works talks.
According to the post event survey, attendees left with a deeper understanding of how search
engines crawl, index, and rank websites. The sessions also gave a good foundation and refresher to
our audience which typically have varying backgrounds and experience in the industry.
AI Talks
AI is transforming everything online,
including the search landscape,
and our sessions about the topic sparked a lot of excitement. We talked about how AI is being
integrated into search results and how it’s impacting user experiences.
We also talked about how the
technologies in the AI umbrella are made,
and how
these technologies can be useful for enhancing SEO efforts.
Busting Myths and Setting the Record Straight
SEO is sometimes shrouded in myths and misconceptions. Our “Mythbusting” sessions aimed to dispel
some of the misunderstandings or archaic knowledge, and provide attendees with accurate
information. These sessions were a major hit in both locations. We tackled common misconceptions
about keyword stuffing, backlink strategies, and other questionable tactics. We also dived deep
into corner cases and topics that are highly relevant to the audience in both places such as
managing multilingual sites or crawl related issues. By separating fact from fiction, based on
feedback, attendees gained actionable insights to improve their SEO practices.
Beyond the Sessions: Building Connections and Fostering Growth
Search Central Live was more than just informative sessions. It was an opportunity for attendees
to connect with fellow search professionals, exchange ideas, and build valuable relationships. We
offered a “human bingo” activity with the aim to make it easier for everyone to network at the
event. The result? People really loved it! And we are so happy to see that the events provide a
platform for attendees to make new connections that last beyond the event.
More Search Central Live events
The overwhelming positive feedback we received confirms that Search Central Live is a valuable
resource for the search community. We’re committed to continuing this series and bringing even
more insightful content and engaging experiences to future events. We’ll explore emerging trends,
dig into ways to provide richer content, and provide a platform for open discussions about the
ever-evolving world of search.
And for those who were upset about the lack of “original flavour” donuts in Taipei: fine, we’ll
have real donuts in the future.
